Call for Submission of Abstracts for the Living Knowledge 2009 Conference
"Engaged Communities, Engaged Universities: Developing policy and practice in participatory research",
27 - 29 August 2009, Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK
This conference aims to influence international research policies and establish priorities for community based research. It also aims to critically reflect on partnership working and to consider current practice and future developments in Science Shops.
The Programme Committee invites submissions from potential contributors to the conference.
Abstract submissions are invited for:
Workshops - These contributions will typically involve a short (10 minute) presentation to stimulate discussion, together with a list of issues or questions which the workshop will seek to explore.
Poster presentations - These contributions will typically involve the delegate providing a short commentary on their work. This may include, for example, case studies, examples of practice and methodologies.
Abstract submissions should relate to one of the following themes:
a.. Engaging students in community based research
b.. Planning for demographic change
c.. Science Shops, sustainable development and climate change
d.. Knowledge exchange, transfer or exploitation?
e.. Sustaining CBR practice through arts and cultural forms
f.. Critical reflections on community engagement in the natural sciences, technology and innovation
Abstract Submission Requirements
Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words and should be submitted via the conference website www.livingknowledge2009.org by 20th April 2009. Applicants will also be required to ensure that their submission clearly fits within a conference theme and to give contact details and short biographies as part of the application process. Abstracts which do not follow the submission guidelines may not be considered.
Following consideration by the Conference Committee, successful abstract contributors will be notified by 18th May 2009.
